I remember when two of my Jewish friends were dating - he conservative/non-Kosher and she really non-Kosher, but Kosher when with her parents. They were eating at a restaurant - he enjoying pasta and she enjoying a shellfish dish when in walked her parents, unannounced. She took her plate and literally dumped it into boyfriend's lap, where he obligingly - and garlickally - covered the steaming mess with his napkin.
True love - they ended up married.
